THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY was established on October 29, 1923 by Mustafa Kemel ATATÜRK.

It has coastlines on four seas: - Mediterranean, Aegean, Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara.
:: İstanbul is the only city in the world that has borders in two continents; it served as the capital city of three great civilizations, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman, for over 2000 years.
:: The Temple of Ephesus and the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, two of the seven wonders of the Ancient World, are located in the western part of Turkey.
:: Julius Caesar uttered his famous "Veni, Vidi, Vici" when he defeated the ancient kingdom of Pontius State in the Black Sea Region in Turkey.
:: Famous Trojan Battles were waged in the western parts of Turkey.
:: Legend says that Noah's Ark came to rest on Mount Ararat, located in North-western Turkey, once the Great Flood waters had subsided. The last meal eaten on the Ark was made from all the foodstuffs that were left over. This contained around 40 different ingredients and came to be known as Noah’s pudding; it is still cooked throughout Turkey today.
:: Aspendos, located on the southern mediterranean coast of Turkey is one of the greatest preserved amphitheatres in existence. It has a capacity of around 15,000 and is still in use today, hosting concerts and international music festivals.
:: Part of the south-western shores of Turkey were given by Mark Antony to Cleopatra as a wedding gift.
:: Leonardo da Vinci conceived the idea of a bridge spanning the Bosphorus in Istanbul, thereby connecting Europe and Asia. This design was far too ambitious at the time; today, however, there are two bridges spanning the Bosphorus that almost mirror Leonardo’s design.
:: About 2000 years ago Christians fleeing from Roman cruelty settled in Cappadocia in the Anatolia region.
